Open Water Certification

The goal of most non-divers is to become open water certified. Your open water certification card allows you to plan and do dives with a buddy.  I usually recommend people go to a local dive shop to do their open water certification course.  I can work with you if you have a difficult schedule or would like personalized instruction and working with a local dive shop does not meet your needs.

Advanced Open Water

The advanced open water class gives you an opportunity to expand your diving skills by focusing on five different adventure dives. Two of these dives will teach you about diving deeper than 60 feet and about underwater navigation.  The three remaining dives can be picked from a large list of topics, such as: dry suit, peak performance buoyancy, night and many more.  This course can be completed in as little as two days.  Once completed, an open water diver’s depth limit goes from 60 feet to 130 feet after gaining some additional deeper diving experience.

Rescue Diver

Sometimes described as the hardest class you’ll ever love…the rescue diver course teaches you to prepare for problems, identify little issues that could leader to bigger ones, and assist others in need.  You’ll learn the best ways to approach divers in distress and how to address many of the more common conditions associated with scuba diving.

Deep Diver - Specialty

Are you interested in learning new techniques and theory regarding diving deeper than 60 feet? The Deep Diver Specialty course expands you knowledge of the effects of water on the body at greater depths. You’ll learn more about nitrogen loading, narcosis, dive planning, and much more.

Enriched Air Diver - Specialty

Diving with enriched air, sometimes called nitrox, allows you to extend your dive time and enjoy more of the underwater world.  Increasing the percentage of oxygen in your scuba tank reduces the amount of nitrogen going into your body.  Less nitrogen means longer dive times before hitting your no-decompression limit.

Peak Performance Buoyancy - Specialty

This course focuses on making you more comfortable and efficient underwater.  Divers that have streamlined equipment, proper weighting and great body position in the water are the ones that appear more relaxed, use less air and often have longer dives.

Underwater Navigator - Specialty

Too many divers get lost underwater. When you are underwater, you don’t want to be heading to the surface to figure out where you are.  If you’re on a deep dive or diving in a current, heading to the surface may mean the end of your dive.  You’ll want to learn how to use your compass, underwater features and dive planning to make the most out of your underwater time.

Dry Suit Diver - Specialty

Do you dive or want to dive in an area with cool or downright cold water?  Learning how to dive with a dry suit will make your cold water dives much more comfortable.  You’ll learn about types of dry suits, proper undergarments, techniques in dry suit diving, weighting and much more.

Search and Recovery - Specialty

The Search and Recovery course teaches you how to establish a search area, techniques for performing a search, and how to bring the item to the surface. If you dive enough, someone is going to ask you to help them find something underwater.  The skills learned in this class will help you find that item. You can use these same skills to find that special dive spot underwater when the boat dropped you in the wrong spot or you got a little lost underwater.

Boat Diver - Specialty

Are you new to diving the big lakes or headed to do some warm water boat dives? This class teaches you about dive preparation, equipment, water entry and exit techniques, and common boating protocol.

Wreck Diver - Specialty

The Great Lakes, US coast and Caribbean waters are full of beautiful wrecks to dive. Learn the established techniques to do a light survey and minor penetration to get the most out of what these wrecks have to offer.

Night Diver - Specialty

Diving at night expands the needed logistics of diving. Flashlights, shore markers, strobes, proficiency with your equipment are all topics covered in this course.

Full Face Mask - Specialty

Diving a full face mask can make it more comfortable to dive in frigid waters.  They also give divers the option to install a communications system and speak with other divers or people at the surface. This class goes over their function, equalization techniques and problem solving.
